A day to acclimatise

We made it, and just in the nick of time by the sounds of it. About 45 minutes after we left Edinburgh there was a problem with air traffic control which shut the whole airport down for a few hours. We had a relatively short connection in Doha (about an hour and a half), which would be fine in most airports, but Doha is enourmous! We took the indoor tram to go from one side of the airport to the other and boarded our second leg to Auckland. We knew this was the big one with a flight time expected to be about 16 hours. James was a trooper and managed both of the flights really well.

When we landed we sped through immigration, collected our bags and proceeded onto bio-security. Our tent and shoes needed inspection but everyone was lovely and it was pretty quick all things considered. A short uber ride later to our airbnb and we all crashed out.

Today has been pretty chill. We spent the morning at a lovely playpark on Waterview Reserve, which had some great kit including a sandpit, massive slide and splash pad.

Laura is a very keen geocacher so we've set ourselves a challenge to find one every day of the trip. We managed to find a few this morning, including one hidden in a rubber rat.
